| |  |  |  |  |  | Chairman of Phoenix, Liu Changle, was named one of the "Prominent Chinese Businessmen in Asian-Pacific region", an award held in Singapore, and is also appointed "Justice of Peace" in Hong Kong as reported in Gazette, July 1, 2004.
Thirty Chinese businessmen were on the winning list, including Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka Sheng and Kuok Hock Nien from Malaysia. The award aims to help inspire talents and creativity across the business fields. The selection and forum was organised by Hong Kong Asian-Pacific Finance Forum, Asian-Pacific Chinese Businessmen Leaders Union and Asian-Pacific Cultural & Finance Journal.
On the Hong Kong side, 77 "Justice of Peace" are appointed by the Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chi Hwa, according to JP Ordinance Chapter 510. JP has to perform functions conferred or imposed by Ordinance and the Chief Executive. The appointment is an honour to the social elites in a venerable tradition.
Liu Changle has won a series of awards and honours in recent years. In 2001, "China Entrepreneur" named him one of the 'Outstanding Entrepreneurs in China'; and Mr Liu was also one of the ten 'Most Influential Innovators for the Media in the Year 2002' and received "Mundell World CEO Achievement Award 2004" in May.
