Sally Wu AwardedĄ§The Most Successful WomanĄ¨

Sally Wu, Phoenix top-notch presenter, is named one of the "Ten Most Successful Women 2004" by the Hong Kong based woman's magazine Jessica and voted the fourth "Top Chinese Teenage Idol" by internet pollsters.

"I am keenly concerned about social issues. I have a passion to reach out to people and to learn their stories. It gives me a great deal of energy to strike forward." Sally said.  Sally's professional reportage is highly regarded by Chinese national leaders.

Among the successful women winners are famous personages such as the president of Hong Kong's Legislative Council, Rita Fan; seasoned media guru, Nansun Shi; choreographer Helen Lai and animation artist, Alice Mark.

At the same time, the result of the "Top Chinese Teenage Idol" poll has further confirmed Sally's popularity not only in China but also among the Chinese communities worldwide. Sally is picked as the fourth "Top Chinese Teenage Idol" by internet pollsters. With several awards under her belt, her outstanding image and status came only after China's first astronaut Yang Li Wei, Little Giant Yao Ming and the self-made millionaire Ding Lui.

A total of 380,000 valid votes were received, among which 70% were from China, the remaining from Hong Kong, Macau and overseas. The results of this inaugural poll for Chinese teenage idol were announced in Shenzhen on August 5.  There were 100 candidates to choose from.  The event, organised by CCP Youth League Central, Cultural Bureau, Guangdong Provincial government, National Youth Federation and Shenzhen City Government, among others, lasted for over a month.

"Sally Wu and Yao Ming set great examples of outstanding characters. They are undaunted by any global competition." The organiser stressed.  The outcome reflects the mainstream value system of contemporary teenagers, who are keen to catch up with international trends. Their voting pattern showed how they valued knowledge as crucial to one's achievements and success. The fact that none of the showbiz artistes made the top five is surprising to the organiser.
