Phoenix InfoNews Channel launches in Singapore
 

Hong Kong November 25, 2004 – Phoenix Satellite Television Company Limited (Phoenix TV) (鳳凰衛視有限公司) announced today that Phoenix InfoNews channel (Phoenix InfoNews) (鳳凰衛視資訊臺) wiofficially launches its broadcast services in Singapore via StarHub CableTV’s (星和視界) Digital Cable service (數碼電視服務) today.

 

Phoenix InfoNews, together with Phoenix Chinese channel (鳳凰衛視中文臺), which began broadcasting in Singapore on cable TV in 1996, will be providing round-the-clock quality Putongua programming to viewers in Singapore.      

 

StarHub CableTV will carry Phoenix InfoNews on channel 106, as part of a package that also comprises XING KONG (星空衛視) and ETTV Asia (東森亞洲衛視). Phoenix Chinese channel that features popular variety and entertainment programming has been carried on StarHub CableTV’s channel 50.      

 

Phoenix InfoNews has been striving constantly to expand its network of services.   Phoenix TV’s further collaboration this time with its long-time strategic partner in Singapore, StarHub, which begins today to carry both Phoenix Chinese and Phoenix InfoNews channels, sees the start of the company’s new round of market expansion in the South East Asia region.

 

Phoenix InfoNews is the first 24-hour Putonghua TV channel providing general/financial news and information for Chinese communities worldwide.  It broadcasts to audiences in China and some 50 countries/regions in the Asia Pacific via AsiaSat3.  In October 2004, it began broadcasting in the United Stated via ECHOSTAR.

 

In Hong Kong where Phoenix TV is based, the company has signed cooperation agreements with several pay TV operators over the past few months, enabling both Phoenix Chinese and Phoenix InfoNews channels available to viewers in Hong Kong through different kinds of platform. These platforms now include SMATV system (衛星電視共用天線係統), CABLE TV (有線電視), now Broadband TV (now寬頻電視) and exTV (銀河衛視) subscription television service.      

 

Launched on 1 January 2001, Phoenix InfoNews channel delivers first-hand, quality news coverage of current events with impartial and objective analysis for viewers in the global Chinese community.
